Meet Brian Trueman

Volunteers are very legitimately the back bone of Home County. We are incredibly thankful for the massive number of people who give up their time to help us put on the Festival. Each month, we want to take the time to honour these amazing people.

Brian has been with Home County for over a decade! His efforts have been primarily focused with the Production Team and have included roles such as as Stage Hand, Stage Manager and assistant to Eric Shepherd, Production Coordinator and Darin Addison, Artistic Director.

Brian said he got involved with Home County on the advice of a musician friend who suggested he join the team as he really enjoyed the people and the volunteer environment. We are so thankful for that word of mouth recommendation!

We asked Brian what his favourite part of being a volunteer is.
My favorite part of volunteering for Home County is interacting with the people, both the other volunteers and the great artists that we are fortunate enough to assist. The unpredictability of events also make the weekend enjoyable, for example, when a 5 piece band shows up and wants to include their 6 friends on stage with them we have to scramble to get the right equipment to the stage while maintaining the day's schedule. Sudden thunderstorms with high winds also keep our days interesting, making sure we have enough tarps to keep both the sound equipment and us dry.

Brian said he doesn't have any crazy memories after all these years (this is not a bad thing Brian!) He did say that he has many great memories from his time working with the other Home County volunteers and musicians.

Brian - thank you for taking time out of your busy summer to volunteer with us at Home County. Your knowledge and experience are essential to the Production Team. We look forward to seeing you in July!
