Thank you to all Home County supporters who contributed to our new Admission By Donation Campaign. We collected over $48 000 in individual donations at the festival. When added to other donations received in the 2010-2011 budget year, we received over $50 000 in donations, putting the percentage of festival revenue raised by those who attend and enjoy the festival and other Home County Folk League events at over 20% of the operating budget. This is a great way for us to begin our planning for 2011-2012. It will enable us to to maintain our high calibre roster of great Canadian musicians, performers and headliners.

Profound thanks also to our festival-goers for taking such great care of the festival site, Victoria Park. Despite our large, capacity crowds that were consistent with last year’s attendance, when measured by bin capacity, we were able to divert 64 % of waste generated at the festival from landfill, through diligent sorting of compost and recycling at Eco-Stations. Our dishwashing program using reusable stainless steel dishes also helped to cut down the volume of waste considerably. We normally have two 40 yard bins of garbage. This year we had less than one full bin of waste going to landfill. Measured by volume, we had 2.2 total bins of waste, of which 36% was garbage for landfill, 40% was cardboard recycling, 12% was other recycling (cans and bottles) and 12% was compost.
